SECRETARY of State for education Michael Gove will be in Rye today to officially open Rye Studio School.
The school has been open since September and operates an innovative model which sees students gaining experience at work placements as well as studying academic subjects.
The Government backed Studio Schools are outside the remit of the Local Education Authority.
Mr Gove will be joined at the ceremony by Rye MP Amber Rudd,
Mr Gove is currently at the centre of a national controversy after appearing to be at odds with Home Secretary Theresa May and wanting to remove boks such as Of Mice and Men and To Kill a Mocking Bird from the curriculum.
