New grant funding means that transport is now available for those wanting to attend the Bexhill Singing and Friendship Club’s drop-in sessions on Saturdays.

The thriving club was set up by Dementia Support.

Cliff Slack, from Demetia Support, said: “Emily, a student at Sussex Downs College, Eastbourne, has now joined the group as coordinator, and has made an impact by introducing an enjoyable programme of gentle breathing, vocal and muscle exercises, group singing and stimulating games and creative reminisce activities.

“With group confidence growing, rehearsals have now started for our Christmas Musical Evening in Hastings, and community carol concerts.

“The club is growing in popularity and has become an enjoyable, fun, hub, which is making a real difference to the lives of those touched by dementia, and providing respite for their carers.

“We are planning to open two - three new groups, based on the Bexhill model in rural areas - all offering free membership.”
