Netherfield

Thank you Maria: It has been a long time since Maria took over reporting the news and events of Netherfield. She managed to keep it interesting. Other commitments meant she could no longer provide the coverage all her readers deserve. I would like to say a big thank you and wish her all the best for the future.

The new Voice: That is me folks. Maurice “The Hack” Holmes, Whitehouse Farmhouse. Just to reassure you, I do not wear a trilby with a card stating PRESS stuck in the hatband, nor a cigarette dangling from the corner of my mouth with smoke making my eyes stream. I am just a plain old “would be” reporter, trying to win a “Pulitzer”. Well you have to start somewhere. I have lived in Netherfield for 18 years,

a member of the residents’ committee and passionate about the long-term sustainability of our village. For any more information please read my entry in “Who?”.

Battle Neighbourhood Plan: The first meeting of the forum to discuss the Netherfield, Battle and Telham Neighbourhood Plan, took place on Wednesday 22 July at the Almonry in Battle at 7.30p.m. I will keep readers of the “Village Voice” informed of the progress made in future editions.

Battle Hard Of Hearing: The next meeting of the Battle Hard of Hearing Support Group will be held on Monday 3rd Aug 2015, from 2pm to 3:30pm at St Martins, (ground floor lounge), Mount Street, Battle, TN33 0DR. This is an excellent opportunity to meet other hard of hearing people and to make new friends in a relaxed and welcoming environment and to learn from their personal experience of living with hearing loss. It’s also an ideal opportunity to learn some useful communication skills that will help to reduce the feeling of isolation. Free refreshments and raffle. All welcome so put a note in your diary. For more information please contact East Sussex Hearing Resource Centre on 01323 722505.

Mobile Library: The East Sussex Mobile Library will be outside the Netherfield Stores at 13.00 on Tuesday 28 July 2015. It will remain there until 13.20. There is nothing like a good book to wile away the time. Perhaps readers in Netherfield, would be interested in recommending books that might amuse, inspire or thrill people in other areas of the “Observer Village Voice” section.

Shoe Bin: This is located outside the shop. Please re-cycle all your unwanted boots, shoes and wellies.

Netherfield Post Office: We hold Euros in stock. All other currencies for order next day. Health Lottery tickets available at 50p per ticket, win up to £25,000, £1 per ticket win up to £100,000.
