Mountfield Big Screen Cinema Presentation: The British Empire Strikes Back! The latest film presentation at the Mountfield Village Hall is the very funny film 'Dad's Army'. The big screen adaptation of the popular television series, it is full of the same characters if not the same actors. The film is being shown on 22 July at 7.30 in the evening and there is a suggested £5 donation towards the Hall floor refurbishment. A right worthy cause mother! So please come along and have a drink or two and enjoy the fun.

So to make up for it I am giving a reminder each week for the next two weeks. The Library Service will be outside the Netherfield Stores and Cafe at 13.00 on 19 July. Ella will be on station until 13.20. Please come and choose your books or come and register and enjoy the pleasures of reading a good book......

Reflections on our garden: What a year it has been. Rain. Rain. More rain. Will it ever stop I ask myself? Every clod of earth seems to hide a slug. I think we will be overrun soon. As an organic operation it is very difficult to sprinkle pellets for these little monsters but we have had ton this year just to stop ourselves slipping on the slimy trails as you walk out of the front door.

Whilst everything is lush and green, each leaf has an abundance of holes which make them look like a cullander or colander if you prefer. Some species of hosta have tried to weather the squiggy plague and produce the flowers but most have succumbed.

Depressing. More next week........
