Emotions..!: Are always heightened when you're tired, always more prevalent as you get older..! but always a true barometer of feelings; whether happy or sad. I tearfully cheered Andy Murray's, Heather Watson's and Gordon Reid's Wimbledon wins, will probably sniff happily through the Olympics, and will, no doubt, be absolutely in bits by the end of this weekend's events over the 2 days of Ninfield Carnival...purely because it takes such a lot of effort from so many brilliant volunteers to create, and then is enjoyed by so many people and families from all around the area...I do hope the weather is kind and sunny for the re-launch, there is so much happening... from the Big Quiz and Disco this Friday 15th, from 7.30pm, all the way through Saturday 16th - Procession, Arena- the School's singers, Dog show and agility, Tractor Pull, Games, Merry-go-round, Inflatables, Craft stalls, Boot Fair!! The Best Baker!! Bar, Bbq, Tea Tent, Raffle- fantastic prizes! From the Flower Display and competition, to the Parish Council Hub; the Coconut Shy to China Smash.. Then in the Evening, Dancing to the band...'Sarah G and the Other 3'..Yes, that is a change from the last piece of advertising, and huge thanks have to be given to Sarah and the Band for taking the gig on, from the Blocks, at VERY short notice!! A drama that added to the stress but just reflects the Theme.. '˜From Shakespeare to Showbiz'! By the time the last bits of equipment have been packed and put away on Monday morning, no doubt we will ALL be a bit tired and emotional...er, in the REAL sense of the phrase! See you somewhere on the Rec!

Thank you!: To the Village Society, Robin, Lynn and Martin, who have designed, purchased and planted out the new Queen’s Commemorative Garden which is situated just off the rec. main road side, next to the benches. It already looks beautiful, with roses, geraniums...and lots of lovely plants in red, white and blue- the names of which I haven’t a clue! I was told however, that one of the Roses is called ‘Dancing Queen’...which brings a twinkle to the eye! Funds raised from the Queen’s 90th Birthday weekend events, and kind donations, have enabled the garden to happen, so again, thank you to all, for this permanent Horticulturally Historical tribute to Her Majesty!

Hooe Parish Council Garden Party: The Party for the Queen! Red White and blue and Tiaras may be worn! The event will be held in the grounds of St Oswald’s Church in Hooe, on Saturday 16th July from 11am to 4pm, with the Village Band playing from 2pm. The BBq will be on the go from 11, and there will be lots of side shows and stalls to enjoy. A Raffle, Tombola, Teas Plants, Preserves an Jigsaws are highlighted, with Pony Rides and Bowling for a Pig. Any contributions to the stalls should be taken up to the church, or contact Simon on 845087, Jack on 892576 or Gary on 893007- There will be parking on the day in the field.

Ninfield Bonfire Society: Wednesday 20th July, 8pm in the Tin Hut- Working Men’s Club! This is the last meeting before the Ninfield Music Festival which is on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th July, in the grounds of Elm Cottage in Marlpits Lane, and the all final details will be discussed and finalised. There’s always good news and bad news.. and in this case the Good news is that the Gig on the Saturday is Sold Out!!..So, that makes the Bad news the fact that if you haven’t got your tickets...you’re too late! I think there are still some tickets left for the Proms Night on Friday 29th, which features the East Sussex Concert Band, and Fireworks at 10pm, so... Get your groups together, find that Candelabra, sort out the picnic and buy your tickets - Adults £10 in advance, Children £6, - from the Village Stores in Lower Street or online at http://www.ninfieldbonfire.co.uk./, and you can call Carol Holland on 893326 for any information about the Society and all it’s forthcoming events.

Ninfield Local History Group: Will be meeting on Thursday 21st July at 7.30pm in the Methodist Hall when there will be a talk given by Bee Frost on the restoration of the Windmill at Windmill Hill. This is a fascinating story, and it all has taken a lot of fund raising, lots of hard work and some years to complete, but very soon the Windmill will be working at full strength and we will be able to buy locally ground flour. Entry to the evening is only £1 for members and £3 for non-members and there will, of course, be light refreshments. For further information please call Rod Ffoulkes on 893635.

Ninfield Bowls Club: Good news again from Carole and the team at the clubhouse! On the 4th July, Ninfield played Hastings and unfortunately lost 53 -85. However! On the 6th, they won, beating Winchelsea 91 - 43, and this was the return Rother league Match; so Ninfield have gained another 10 points on the Table. The 9th July saw Ninfield winning again, 78 to Peasmarsh 50; but the match on Sunday 10th was cancelled due to bad weather. On Tuesday 5th, the Bexhill Tangent Club (past Bexhill Ladies Circle Members) came up to Ninfield to join their Ladies for an afternoon of Bowls followed by one of the famous Afternoon Teas. Everyone had a fabulous time and the weather was superb for the whole afternoon.

Hooe Open Group: The July meeting on the 8th saw the lively Ladies partaking in the benefits of Pilates, with Celia King, who is an expert in this technique. The session lasted nearly an hour, using the Resistance Bands and large rubber exercise Balls, causing much hilarity among the members! Everyone said that they could more easily do this form of gentle exercise, and would find it beneficial; and then they all indulged themselves in one of their lovely cream teas, rounding off the afternoon nicely! If you’re interested in joining the Open Group in Hooe, please go along to the next meeting which will be on Friday 9th September, in the Village Hall, Hooe. 2.30pm. In August the Ladies are meeting at the Orangery in Ashburnham Place... for Afternoon Tea..now, there’s a surprise!!!. Call Edna Wallis for all details on 842591!
