The adult badminton club meets on Friday evening at 8pm in the Pretious Sports Hall and welcomes anyone who would like to have a game. Equipment is provided, and everyone is mixed up so that it doesn’t matter if you come by yourself or with some friends. Badminton is a good way to keep fit, as it can be enjoyed at any level of ability, so why not give it a try?
All the clubs get back to normal this week, starting with Shortmat Bowls at 2pm in the Village Hall on Monday, and Zumba in the Pretious Sports Hall at 8.15pm. The Over 60s meet on Tuesday at 2pm in the Village Hall.
Anyone interested in ringing the church bells would be very welcome on practice nights on Tuesdays in January at 7.30pm. Either turn up at the main entrance to the church, or phone Alan for more information – 01797-253580. Beginners or returners are equally welcome!
Coffee Stop starts the day on Wednesday with good company in the Church Centre between 10am and 12 noon. This week, Becky, our PCSO, will attend in order to meet parishioners and discuss any issues and give crime prevention advice.
The WI’s meeting starts at 2pm in the Jenkins Room when Sally Bickersteth will be updating on events in Chitiwiri. The WI’s teddies are ready and will be presented to Sally at this meeting, although some members may be slightly sad to see their teddies go! However, they are on their way to spread happiness to the young children of Chitiwiri. Anyone interested in joining the WI or finding out more, is welcome to call Margaret Hinds 01797 253341.
Karate Club meets every Wednesday evening in the Village Hall – call John Wilson (253302) to find out if this is the sport for you! There will be Karate tournament in Saturday.
Work carries on, and the Parish Council meet at 7pm on Thursday in the Jenkins Room, and the Plotters association hold their AGM on Friday in the Jenkins Room.
Northiam Village Hall Trust have their first Boot Sale of the year on Sunday 12th January. Please call Marie Edwards (01797 253264) if you would like to book a table.
On Tuesday 21st January, Shirley Saeed will be returning to Northiam to run another Spice up your Life evening, teaching the basics of an authentic curry. Tickets are available from me – 01797 253375 at £5.
Rye & District Lions host their annual Nearly Burns Night Concert with Sussex Brass on Friday 24th January, with tickets on sale at Beckley Motors £6.50. This is usually a sell-out event so it would be wise to get your ticket early!
The Conservation Society will be holding their ever-popular Quiz Night on Saturday 25th January, so gather your teams for a contest!
Showtimers are already planning their next extravaganza, and are looking for people to join this lively band. If you fancy joining the group, people are needed for on-stage, backstage, front of house or technical. Auditions will take place in January.
