Northiam

Thank You!: And another Thank You! from Sally Bickersteth as once again Northiam and friends of Chitiwiri have pulled out all the stops! Over 860kgs of clothes were collected last week, raising an amazing £519.60 for the projects in Chitiwiri. This money will enable the Days4Girls and the irrigation projects to continue, which make such a huge difference to the lives of this community in one of the poorest places in Africa. It will also ensure that the feeding programme for the children can be set up. The “kitchen” is about to be started and hopefully by next year there will be a meal cooked for the children who attend school during the hungry months of January to April. Many children suffer severe malnutrition in these months and do not have the strength to walk to school. It will be fantastic to be able to change this situation. The building will be used as a classroom during the rest of the year. Four of the classes at Chitiwiri are outside so they will really benefit from another indoor classroom. Sally also thanks you for the items donated for the container which has just started its journey with lots of boxes of pencils, paper, resources for the Days4Girls project, teddies for the younger children and much more. They will be so excited to receive all these wonderful gifts.

Chitiwiri: The next clothes collection will be in May 2015, and I hope we can continue to support these projects. It’s fantastic to see how much the enthusiasm of one person can make such a difference – even if you’re not called Bob Geldolf! Huge congratulations to Sally for all she does, and for keeping us involved in such exciting opportunities. If you would like to know more about these projects and about Chitiwiri school please email Sally on sallybickersteth@yahoo.co.uk.
