Have your say

Regardless of the weather, we shall continue with all our summer events! And they wonder why people still holiday abroad.

You don’t need good weather to enjoy South East Open Studios (although it does help), which continues until Sunday 17th. In Northiam, studios are open at Northiam Station, 2 Monks Way and The White House Dixter Road as well as nearby in Peasmarsh, Rye, Ewhurst Green, Tenterden, Sandhurst, Hawkhurst etc etc. There are nearly 300 artists and makers taking part over the South East region, all pleased to share their passion for their craft, with no obligation. Please follow the paint-tube signs.

The Blue Cross will be holding a micro-chipping day today (Friday) at £10 per cat or dog. Please call 0300 777150 to make a booking or make enquiries.

Dance Club meets in the Village Hall each Friday, at 7.30pm. Now we have discovered what sequence dancing is, it looks like fun! If anyone would like to join, pop along to a session, or phone Pam Webb – 01424 870448. Badminton Club meets in the Pretious Sports Hall at 8pm.

Coffee Stop welcomes all-comers to the Church centre each Wednesday between 10am and 12 noon, for nothing more taxing than a friendly chat over coffee and biscuits. Take a break, as it were.

Geoff Hutchinson will entertain the Thursday Seniors’ Club this week – new members are always welcome. The club provides a home-made two course lunch and after lunch entertainment each week to local pensioners. Transport can be arranged, and the day starts at 10.30am with coffee and a chat, with a bring-and-buy stall, and bring-and-win raffle, followed by gentle Extend chair exercises to music to help mobility. A chiropodist comes every 3 weeks, Citizens Advice call on 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month, and free hearing aid batteries and walking stick ferrules are available. Meetings cost just £4 a week, and Ann Lee (252343) or Jane Winnifrith (252973) will be happy to discuss the club with you.
