OLYMPIC TORCH: Rye gets set for big day

Have your say

More than a thousand school children from the Rye area will take part in a colourful parade tomorrow morning as the Olympic Torch is carried through Rye.

They will be carrying colourful flags and joined by Rye College’s drumming group.

Children will be carrying giant puppets of a dragon, mermaid and phoenix as well as wearing big head puppets of their sporting heroes.

The Torch arrives in Rye at 9.43 and will be carried along Winchelsea Road, up the Mint and High Street and through the Landgate Arch to the junction with Kings Avenue.

Celebrations continue into the evening at Rye College with a giant Sky Dome set up in the grounds, organised by Same Sky theatre arts group.

Don’t forget we want to hear your impressions on the day and see your pictures. Mail them to olympictorch@jpress.co.uk and you could find them appearing in our special colour supplement on Friday.
