Preview: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, White Rock, October 27 until November 1.

One of the stars of Andrew Lloyd Webber's televised search for a Joseph is starring in the famous role at the White Rock Theatre later this month.

Craigh Chalmers was one of the most popular finalists in the hit BBC series Any Dream Will Do. Watched by millions every week, the 27-year-old ended up finishing fifth infront of an expert panel of

Bill Kenwright, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Denise Van Outen and John Barrowman.

Now he is touring in the role he says he was born for.

Before Joseph, Edinburgh born Craig was a professional vocalist and entertainer. He was part of successful boyband No Reason who enjoyed a top ten hit as well as performing at the King's Theatre in Edinburgh and Hampden Stadium alongside Blue, McFly, Sugababes and Girls Aloud.

Now though, it is all about Joseph. Having enjoyed sensational reviews, Bill Kenwright's production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's sparkling family musical continues to enjoy huge success across the country.

With a lively, energetic company of actors, singers and dancers, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is brimming with non-stop action, laughter and infectious fun that is sure to delight the young and the young at heart.

Retelling the Biblical story of Joseph, his eleven brothers and the coat of many colours, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat marked the beginning of the legendary partnership between Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, who went on to write Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita together. With a score including Close Ev'ry Door to Me, One More Angel and the unforgettable Any Dream Will Do, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat reveals the brilliance behind this partnership and the reasons for its phenomenal success.

First seen in 1968 as a 15-minute 'pop cantata' written for a London school's end of term concert, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has gone on to become one of the world's most established and successful musicals. This production has also gone into The Guinness Book of Records as the longest-running touring stage musical of all time, having toured provincial theatres in the UK for over 20 years.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is directed by Bill Kenwright, with choreography by Henry Metcalfe, design by Sean Cavanagh, musical direction by David Steadman and lighting by Nick Richings.

It can be seen daily from Wednesday, October 27 until Sunday, November 1.
