THE Hastings and Rother Samaritans will hold an information evening on Monday (August 4) for those interested in becoming involved with this unique charity, available 24/7 for all in crisis or emotional distres.

The event will take place at St Leonards Parish Church from 7.30pm.

Current volunteers will be available to answer questions about the role of the organisation’s listening volunteers.

Although the branch is based in Hastings, volunteers from across the Rother area also give up their time to help the charity.

As well as a healthy contingent from Bexhill, current volunteers also hail from Battle, Robertsbridge, Rye, Bodiam, Staplecross and Fairlight.

Last month volunteers marked the 50th anniversary of the Hastings and Rother Samaritans with a special event in Hastings town centre. Volunteers raised awareness about the work of the charity.
