Paintings and pints on tap

A NORTHIAM gastro-pub may seem like an unlikely venue for an art exhibition but the Muddy Duck in the village is opening it’s doors to local artists this weekend.

“Many local artists hold small exhibitions throughout the year,” explains Terry Ayling, one of the organisers, “but we thought it would be a good idea to have a bigger exhibition, bringing together some of the best artists in the Rother Valley.”

The newly refurbished Muddy Duck, is providing a large meeting room this weekend and ten local artists have agreed to display their work.

“We wanted a good mix of different types of art,” Terry Ayling explains, “so we have paintings, photographs, engravings, ceramics, glass, jewellery – a whole range of different materials. We’ve been very lucky to get so many good artists who are willing to exhibit.”

Felicity Flutter, one of the artists taking part, said: “We’ve all be inspired by local scenes, local places – now people have the opportunity to be inspired by our art.”

In addition to the artwork on show, many of the artists will have cards and other small items for sale.

Items will need to be paid for with cash or cheque.

The exhibition runs on Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 5pm. Entry is free and car parking is available.
