At Pett Parish Council on Tuesday December 17, there was a presentation on Community Speedwatch from Sergeant Paul Masterson, Sussex Police and Jan Jung, a Speedwatch Co-coordinator. The meeting heard that there were 25 speedwatch groups in Rother and that it creates the feeling that it is not safe to speed in a particular area.

Speedwatch is run by the community rather than the police although the police will help with training and provide the equipment, which can be booked in advance. The scheme means that far more areas can be checked for speeding than the police can manage alone.

A minimum of four volunteers are required initiate a scheme and whilst some concern was expressed about villagers reporting on each other, the Parish Council agreed to have this as a topic at the annual Parish Assembly.

Church Services on Sunday December 29 – United benefice Service, St Andrew, Fairlight at 10:30am.

Please note that there will be no Village Coffee Morning on January 1 – New Year’s Day and no Flicks in the Village on January 2.
