Playden village voice

Grey again today. Don’t we have summers any more?

The Open Gardens in Playden account has been finalised, and £792.76 was realised. A very tidy sum, making all the hard work seem worth while. And pleasing considering the weather. Very many thanks to those who did work, and also to those nice people who came around to look and support us.

The next event here is the Traditional Church Fete on Saturday 21st July in the churchyard. It begins at midday and remains open until 3.30 pm. There will be stalls, games, books and refreshments including a BBQ and a Pimms tent. Come along and have a bit of fun. You could have your lunch first and then speculate a little money !

Playden W. I. will meet on Monday 9th July at 2pm in the Hall. This meeting is the Craft Show. Eileen Heasman will talk on “Where the W. I. has led me.”

Tomorrow, 7th July, from 12 noon to 3 pm, Playden school will be holding The Playden Games at the school. Entry is free and all are welcome.

If you bring along your bike, Dan Bevan, our PCSO, will be offering bicycle security marking during the afternoon.

The Mobile Library should be at Poppyfield on Monday from 11.30 to 11.50am.

The Rye Harbour Nature Reserve invites you to take a look at Horse Stingers, and Devil’s Darning Needles on Sunday 8th July from 2 to 4 pm. These creatures are colourful, elegant and harmless. They are all dragonflies and damselflies.

Meet at Brede Lock, and donations would be appreciated.

The mid-week services are 9.30 am Morning Prayer and 3.30 pm Evening Prayer on Tuesday.

The 11 am service on Sunday will be Parish Communion led by the Vicar.
