Robertsbridge

Exhibition: Robertsbridge Arts and Crafts Exhibition is taking place this weekend. It is being held at the Church Room in Fair Lane and is open from 10am–4pm. It is well worth a visit, with many genres being exhibited. Local artists will be displaying painting, photography, pottery, jewellery and much more. Admission is free.

Barbecue: Sunday 24th August, starting at 7pm, there will be a barbecue with live music being held at the Church Room. Admission for this is £8 for adults and £4 for under 14s. The profits from this evening will go towards the Church Room ongoing repairs. Bring your own bottle and money to buy raffle tickets. This should be a great evening.

Recycling: I have been praising the new refuse/recycling collection service over the last few weeks because I have had no problems and things have gone smoothly. I get an email alert each week to remind me of which bin is being collected which certainly makes life easier. However I understand that not everyone is being as lucky and there are some households that are still not having their recycling collected, even after phone calls to the council each time a collection is missed. If you have a missed collection please report this either by going on to the Rother District Council website or by ringing 01424 787000 before 5pm on the next working day following the scheduled collection. This should work, but has not for some. If this is the case try contacting your local councillor for assistance. This Monday is Bank Holiday but my Alert tells me that it is brown garden waste bin and green recycling bin as usual.

Feathers and Busters: Saturday 30th August at Parsonage Farm in Salehurst (TN32 5PJ), Feathers Wild Bird Care and Busters Farm Shop are holding a barbecue, bee and birds Day. This starts from 10am onwards. There will be an owl display, giving you the opportunity to get close to and maybe even hold and photograph these fantastic birds. There will be a superb barbecue with a nice beer or even a Pimms for the ladies. There will be a bouncy castle for the children, a tombola and other activities to occupy the children. You can have a chat with the RSPB and also Dave from Rye Harbour Nature Reserve. With tea, coffee and a variety of cakes available you can enjoy a great educational and fun day out. Follow the signs for Feathers on the roundabout on the A21 or just head for Salehurst. Allan, Joe and Roger look forward to seeing you. If you need more information please contact Feathers on 01580 880803 or Busters on 01580 882020.

Don’t forget if you haven’t paid up there will be no marching in any event throughout the season for you. Badge Night is next Friday 29th August at Robertsbridge Club, which is the last time to pay up.

Show: Schedules are now available for the Flower and Pet Show, which is being held on September 14th at Robertsbridge Hall. These can be picked up from Sandie or by going onto the Robertsbridge Bonfire Society Facebook page to download.
