Children’s Play park: just a warning to the parents of small children that go to the play park for a bit of fun. It has been told to me that there have been littering of old cans, and items that small children do not want to be faced with and generally. Please be careful if you have little ones down at the park, keep an eye on what they are picking up.

We lost pushpenny 3-0. Tonight is our last cup match and we are at The Millers against Mountfield Club ‘B’ 8p.m.

FOOTBALL: At last two games of football with the 1st team hosting Division 1 side Old Hastonians in the Semi-Final of the Birchwood Group Challenge Cup. An early injury to Ben Thorpe saw Will Barden come on after just 15 minutes but just 5 minutes later Phil Green was brought down in the box and Guy Ballard scored. Man of the match Paul Barnes was dominant in midfield and his pass on the half hour mark lead to a great cross from Tom Ripley who found Green at the far post to tap in the second for the half time lead. The visitors came out in the second half and pulled a goal back when a shot was deflected into his own net by Ben Hardy after 55 minutes and with the pressure telling a long range shot was again deflected by the unlucky Hardy on 70 minutes to take the tie into extra time. The extra period did not produce any goals so it was down to penalties which saw Bridge keeper Grant Lewis produce a great save to give The Bridge a 5-4 victory and a place in the Final. The 2nd team travelled to Hampden Park United where the wind was the dominant factor. Kicking with the wind at our backs we opened the scoring after just 5 minutes when a Matt Winchester free kick found Josh Goodsell in the box and The Bridge doubled their lead when a cross came in and Matt Barnett helped the ball on and it came off Josh’ back on the half hour mark. 5 minutes before the break Barnett hit the third. The second half saw The Bridge on the defence as the visitors looked for a goal and poor defending saw the hosts score on 51 minutes and just 10 minutes later a dubious penalty put the hosts back in the game. Man of the match Dan Goodsell was strong in midfield and it was his run that lead to Tommy Moyce shooting just past the post but the hosts earned a point with just 5 minutes left. Tomorrow the 1st team are at home to Battle Baptists in the 2nd Round of the Hastings F.A. Intermediate Cup while the 2nd team travel to Bulverhythe to play Division 4 side Conquest United in the 2nd Round of the Hastings F.A. Lower Divisions Cup with both matches K.O. 1.30p.m.
