Robertsbridge village voice

Tomorrow 7th July is the next Saturday Market at Robertsbridge Hall from 10am till 12 noon.

You can buy many items from fresh produce, plants, handicrafts, books, home made jewellery and much more. You can also meet up with friends for coffee and a chat.

In the afternoon tomorrow, Saturday 7th July is the Robertsbridge Children’s Summer Fete at Salehurst Primary School. This starts at 12 noon and continues until 3pm.

This is one for the whole family, with many attractions under cover to make it a perfect day whatever the weather. There will be a good range of refreshments available, including a BBQ, strawberries and meringues, ice creams, candy floss and of course a bar for the adults. So pop along have your lunch and entertainment at the same time.

The main arena will have the local raptor centre `1066 Falconry` doing several flying displays, plus a local gymnastics group `Acromax` will be putting on a performance, which is one not to be missed.

On the playground area there will be several attractions, including a pedal cart obstacle course. On the field there will be many stalls and activities including a Bouncy Castle, Coconut Shy, Wellie Hurling, Crockery Smash, Plants Stall, Face Painting, Manicures, Tattoos, Nearly new stall and so much more. There will be the chance to win a wheelbarrow full of wine, a £50.00 note, a Childs wheelbarrow of goodies, and double your money. There will be a pony and cart giving rides throughout the day. Finally there is the Grand Summer Draw with the first prize this year kindly donated by Rush Witt and Wilson of £250.00, second prize of £100, a free birthday party, many luxury hampers, and again many more prizes. It is important this year more than most when budgets are being cut so tightly that these events help bolster the school funding, this in turn helps our children to enjoy school life and a variety of benefits. The fund raising teams from both Salehurst School and Robertsbridge Children’s Services put in a great deal of effort to ensure that these events work so please feel free to go along and support our local event by spending your money on all the delightful things on offer and don’t forget to buy plenty of raffle tickets and you may be the lucky winner of £250.00.

The Salehurst Halt would like to thank all those of you that went and supported their Nepalese Night. It was a sell out and £350.00 was raised for the Ghurkha Welfare Trust and Oxfam. Three members of the Ghurkha regiment attended and were able to talk about the Trust; they also praised the Chef for the authenticity of his food. Well done to all involved.

Sunday 8th July live music from ` Box of Frogs ` will be playing at the Salehurst Halt by popular demand. The last time they played was on a hot summers afternoon when everyone was dancing on the terrace. Hopefully their return will bring back the dancing and the weather.

Robertsbridge Hall had its AGM recently and was very disappointed that there were no members of the public attending. The Hall belongs to the village and is a very much-needed venue. It takes a lot to keep it as nice as it is and many hands make light work. So if you are interested in getting involved and would like to join the friendly committee, no matter how small a contribution you can make please contact the Chairman Neil Barden on 01580 880457, he will be pleased to hear from you.
