Rye and District Lions Club held their 38th annual Charter Lunch recently at the Brickwall Hotel in Seddlescombe.

Guests of Honour were Lion District Governor Terry Mason and his wife Sue, Rye Mayor Bernadette Fidimore, and Rye and Winchelsea Rotary Club Vice President Bernard Reis and his wife Maureen. Lions from several other local clubs were also present.

The lunch was a very special occasion for Rye Lions long serving secretary Robert Harvey. Bob was presented with a long service badge to mark his 45 years as a Lion. Presenting the award District Governor Terry Mason congratulated Bob on his achievement pointing out that Bob was one of a very few people to receive this honour.

Bob began his Lions service with the Littlehampton club where he was a charter (founder) member. He then moved to the Hastings club before coming to Rye.
