Your village needs you. Sedlescombe Societies Association Annual General Meeting will be on Monday November 18 in Committee room 2 at the village hall at 7.30pm. Please mark this date in your diary and come along to show your support for those that have made this village day possible however it was evident at the last committee meeting that many of the fayre committee have decided not to stand for next year’s committee. Their wealth of experience will be sorely missed and if a new committee is not elected at the AGM then sadly there will be no main Sedlescombe fayre on the sports field in 2014. This is a serious situation for the village, and a great shame in view of the years of work that have gone before mainly by the present committee members. As a thriving village with residents young and more mature then surely there must be some talented volunteers who could step up to carry this event forward. Originally as the title suggests, Sedlescombe Societies Association committee comprised of representatives of all the groups in the village but gradually over the years this has changed. Maybe there could be the possibility of bringing this idea back if groups were willing to participate with one dominate group taking overall charge of the event? Please give this some serious thought as to whether you could give some of your time for your village and our community.
Thank you to everyone who helped at the jumble sale held last Saturday at the village hall. All the money raised from the sale of donated goods will be used by the Friends of Sedlescombe Church Heritage Trust to assist in the renovations currently taking place at the parish church. The next event for the group will be a “Burns Night” at the village hall on Friday January 31, watch this space for further details.
The committee of the Sedlescombe “ Spring Fayre on the Green “ and the Friendship Club have decided , for the first time ever , to organise a Christmas Party for the senior citizens of our village . It will be held in the village hall on Friday evening December 20 at 5pm to 9pm approx. The evening programme will consist of a cold buffet, a trio concert party called Gin and Tonic, a magician, games and a visit from Father Christmas. Obviously there has to be a small charge for this event which will be £2.50 per person. Anyone 60 years young or over is welcome to attend , please do not be shy , come along and support the efforts of the committee and help make the evening a “Merry Christmas”. It will be admission by ticket only and these will be available from our village shop , Barry Brdabury at 2 Gorselands, Bob Harris at 4 Streetlands, David Tildesley at 10 Gammons Way, Ralph Dellow at Little Tysoe, Churchland Lane off Hurst Lane. Due to various administration factors, tickets must be purchased by December 14 2013, so please come along and enjoy yourself.
