CHRISTMAS FAYRE: Don not miss this, Saturday November 29, Sedlescombe school hold their Christmas fayre from 12pm to 3pm. There will be lots of exciting things to do and games to play including find the treasure , X box challenge, rescue the teddy bear, make your own wooden reindeer, face painting, fossil hunting , nail art along with other activities too. There will also be hot food and refreshments served during the afternoon. Take part in the grand raffle and two tombolas to try your luck on. There will also be a very special visitor, Santa, who will be in his Grotto waiting to see the children. Entrance is just 50p for adults with no charge for children.

SEDLESCOMBE AND DISTRICT GARDEN SOCIETY: The Sedlescombe & District Garden Society will be holding their final event of the year on Tuesday December 2 when there will be a demonstration on “Making Christmas Floral Decorations” followed by afternoon tea. This will take place at the Village Hall starting at 2.00 p.m. and will be free for members but non-members are welcome at £5.00 per person. The Society held their 68th Annual General Meeting on Friday November 7 which was well attended and included a very interesting talk on “The Trials & Tribulations of Growing Vines for English Wines” by our local vine grower, Neil Mortimer. The Society has had a very successful 70th Anniversary year and the committee is working hard on another full programme of events for 2015, including 3 Shows, a Plant Sale and a Garden Safari as well as some interesting talks. Existing members can renew their membership at any time now and new members would be welcomed with open arms, why not come along next Tuesday and meet some of our existing committee and members and get a feel for what the Society can offer. SEDLESCOMBE PLAYERS: The Players will be performing the Frances Durbridge thriller ‘Deadly Nightcap’ on January 29, 30, 31 in Sedlescombe Village Hall. Tickets will be available from Monday December 1, priced at £10, without supper on the January 29 and £16, with supper on January 30 and 31.As usual seating will be at tables of 8, however you do not have to book a whole table.Tickets can be obtained by calling 01424 718059 or e-mail sedlescombeplayers@hotmail.co.uk, you can also book in person at the hall on Monday nights from 7pm before rehearsal. London critics said,’A night to remember for any fan of mystery, murder and edge of your seat suspense’. The players always put on a great show so do not hesitate to get your tickets now. COFFEE MORNING AND MINI MARKET: The next coffee morning and mini market will be in the village hall on Thursday December 4 from 10 to 11.30am. All the usual stalls and refreshments will be on offer. Now is the time to stock up on the food for your feathered friends as there will not be a coffee morning in January. Margaret writes to thank all friends and visitors throughout the year who have supported the monthly coffee mornings and mini markets and looks forward to seeing you all again in 2015. DECEMBER ART SHOW: An opportunity to see the work of Sedlescombe artist, Mark Fisher and six other local artists when an explosion of art is on offer this December at the Powder Mills Hotel. A wide variety of style and subject matter, wildlife, architecture, landscape, cityscapes and portraits, impressionistic, abstract, figurative and photorealism. Each artist creates extraordinary and captivating art executed in a variety of media including acrylic, watercolour, pen and ink, oil and mixed media incorporating textured surface, metal and collage. A beautiful collection to visit, the exhibition will be open from 10am to 4pm on Friday December 5, Saturday 6 and Sunday 7. PESTALOZZI INTERNATIONAL VILLAGE: Christmas time, mince pies, mulled wine and much more on Saturday December 6 from 11am to 3pm. You are invited to go and celebrate the festive season with Pestalozzi students, staff, volunteers and supporters at Swiss Hall, Pestalozzi, Ladybird Lane, Sedlescombe, TN33 0UF. Entry is free and there will be the opportunity to indulge in a tasty seasonal lunch, grab a mug of mulled wine and sing along to Christmas carols. Browse the stalls of the Christmas Market for unique gifts for your loved ones, have a winter walk around their beautiful estate and if you are lucky, you might even win one of their super raffle prizes which include a £200 cash prize, a Bush 20inch HD Ready television and a luxury Christmas hamper.

PARISH CHURCH NEWS: Last Saturday’s Advent fayre was a great success raising £1800, what a boost of funds to keep our lovely church running . it was a happy day the hall was warm and welcoming as the visitors poured in to hopefully find a Christmas present or play a game of chance including our grand Advent Draw, a list of winners is on display on the notice board near the shop. Thanks to all who came and a Big Thank you to everyone who helped or donated in any way.

ST JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH CHURCH: Mark your diaries. The family service on December 7 will be a Christingle starting at 10.30am , everyone is welcome to attend . More details to follow next week
