SOUTH EAST OPEN STUDIOS 2015: Don’t miss visiting the studios of Sedlescombe Artists Mark Fisher, Michael Wilson and Anthony Wynne over this final weekend of Saturday20 and Sunday 21 June as part of South East Open Studios 2015. Open studios are special places , they are not like galleries. You will meet the artists or makers in person and they will be glad to talk to you about their materials, techniques and philosophy. Many will be demonstrating, so you can see them at work. There will be items for sale, but there is no obligation to buy. If you do make a purchase, you will be buying directly from the creator. STRAWBERRY FAYRE: Sedlescombe Primary have their Strawberry Fayre on Saturday June 27 open from 12 until 3pm. Entrance is just 50p for adults, children free. Maypole dancing baton twirling with lots of stalls and games for all the family to enjoy and the added bonus that if the weather is good then the school will be open for a swim at £1 a go. Refreshments will of course include everything you can think of with strawberries, there will also be a barbecue and a Pimms tent. Fingers crossed for a lovely sunny day for them and you to enjoy.

SEDLESCOMBE FAYRE 2015: Sedlescombe Fayre on the Sports field will be making a welcome return this summer on Saturday July 18 2015. This is being organised by Sedlescombe Societies Association and sponsored by the Parish Council and the Sports Association. Many of the village groups and businesses will be taking part on the day including to name just a few, Sedlescombe School, The Queens Head,K9 Rescue dogs, Pestalozzi, Battle Lions, Sedlescombe Flower Club, Sedlescombe Green WI, Parish church and Friends of the Church, Sedlescombe cricket club, Sedlescombe football club, Sedlescombe Preschool and Friends of Sedlescombe School when they will have the opportunity to publicise and raise funds for themselves and local charities. One of the village geese will also have a starring role. If your club or group would like to be one of them then please call Sally Sidgwick on 07803937220. There is no fee for local groups to be a part of this traditional village event. There will also be the Sedlescombe and District Gardening Society summer show, an excellent Art exhibition and refreshments provided by staff and volunteers from St Michaels Hospice.

SEDLESCOMBE FAYRE GRAND DRAW: TICKETS ARE NOW AVAILABLE for the Grand Draw which will be drawn at the village fayre on Saturday July 18. Prizes donated to date include Brickwall Hotel Dinner for two, One hour Western Riding lesson given by Jonathan Vine-Hall, European Gold Medallist, Voucher for a combined session with Sedlescombe Fitness, Two pairs of weekend tickets including camping for the Big Green Cardigan Festival, Hamper from Sedlescombe Stores, Entry for two to Pashley Manor gardens, Vineyard tours or Sedlescombe Vineyard and Carr Taylor Vineyard, Mot from Vicarys garage, 2 hour guided tour of Hurst House gardens for 4 people with Pimms escorted by the Head Gardener. SEDLESCOMBE AND DISTRICT GARDENING SOCIETY: Their Summer show will be on Saturday July 18 TOO. If the weather is fine then this will be held on the Sports ground as part of the village Summer Fete. If it should be bad weather on the day, fingers crossed it is not then they will hold the show in the village hall. So get those schedules out and decide what classes you are going to enter this year. The weather for growing plants has been kind to us to date, they are hoping for a bumper number of entries in the flower and foliage section. Also those artistic amongst us what about some entries in the Floral Art section.

ST MICHAELS HOSPICE OPEN GARDEN SCHEME: It is a Tuesday, so it must be an Open Garden day! This time on June 23, there is the opportunity to visit Doucegrove Farm, Doucegrove lane, Northiam TN31 6JQ which will be open from 10.30am until 4pm in support of this local charity. Entry is just £4. Refreshments will also be available all day at this lovely three acre mature garden. Well worth a visit with family or friends.

SDGS GARDEN SAFARI: Sedlescombe and district Gardening Society have arranged their very own open gardens for members and their guests only on Saturday July 4. Gardens will be open from 11.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Tickets and maps can be collected on the day from one of the committee members who will be in the beer garden of The Queens Head Pub, or just inside if it is raining.

One of the gardens will be serving tea and yummy cakes and there will be plants for sale on the way. Ticket prices are £3.00 per person.
