The Ewhurst and Staplecross Village Hall AGM will be held next Tuesday (February 12) in the village hall at Staplecross at 7.30pm. This meeting is open to members of the public who will find out how valuable the village hall is to the whole community.

The annual Quiz Night organised by the Ewhurst, Staplecross and Bodiam Garden Society held last Saturday evening was most successful and attracted a number of people who are not members of the Society. As well as the Quiz there was a Heads and Tails competition to add to the fun and delicious homemade soup and crusty bread for supper completed the evening.

Anyone living in the parish (Ewhurst Green, Staplecross, Cripps Corner) who is 50+ and would enjoy a hot meal with good company once a month in Staplecross village hall, should contact Anka 830260 or Dennis 830816 to indicate their interest and make a booking. The lunches take place on the third Wednesday of each month and for February the date is Wednesday February 20.

Jive comes to Staplecross on Sunday afternoon March 17 when the Charleston Jive Squad present an afternoon Tea Dance at 5pm for an afternoon of top tunes from the 1940’s and 1950’s. The in-house DJs are Swing Out Si, Miss Peaches and Darcie. The admission charge is £6 to include tea, coffee and cake.

There is more information by contacting the jive squad on charlestonjivesquad@hotmail.co.uk or visit www.charlestonjivesquad,co.uk. Another jive session is planned for August 10 for those who want to note the date in their diaries.

The next Parish Council meeting is scheduled for Thursday February 14 7.30pm in the Church Room, Northiam Road, Staplecross. Members of the public are welcome to attend and may make a contribution in the Open Forum section of the meeting.
