WEEKS of delays and long diversions lay ahead for motorists as work gets underway on the main A259 between Rye and Hastings.
The road will be closed for two entire weekends in March with one planned diversion adding ten miles to a journey.
Resurfacing and drainage work is scheduled to go on until at least the end of March but that is dependent on the weather.
The Highways Agency say the important work will improve safety and reduce the risk of flooding on the road.
