A Rye man is in a ‘critical but stable’ condition and a woman is seriously injured after a crash involving a motorcycle and a car in Winchelsea yesterday (Sunday, August 7).

A Mazda 6 car and a Kawazaki motorbike crashed on Monks’ Walk at around midday.

The 21-year-old man, who was riding the motorcycle, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to St George’s Hospital, Tooting, where he is in a critical but stable condition.

His pillion passenger, a woman aged 21 from Hastings, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, with serious leg injuries.

The car driver, a 79-year-old Hastings man, was uninjured.

Sergeant Sarah Porter said: “We are appealing for anyone who either saw the collision or believe they saw either of the vehicles being driven before the collision to contact us.”
