UPDATE: Motorcyclist fractures thumb in Battle car crash

A motorcyclist was left with a fractured thumb after a head-on crash with a car near Battle this afternoon (Friday, October 28).

Emergency services were called to Powdermill Lane after the accident at around 3.20pm.

The biker, a 63-year-old man from Bexhill riding a Triumph Bonneville America 86, was thrown from his bike and suffered abrasions and a fractured thumb.

He was treated at the Conquest Hospital and later discharged.

The car driver, a 37-year-old man from Goldalming, Surrey, driving a black Vauxhall Mokka, was unhurt.

The road was blocked for recovery work between Lower Lake and Telham Lane until 4.45pm.
