News from Sedlescombe

THE Friends of Sedlescombe Parish Church Trust would like to thank everyone who supported the event last Friday evening. Mulled wine was expertly prepared by Delia and David Box to accompany homemade mince pies for the interval. It was a truly festive evening with songs performed by Cantabile and Lorelei in the beautiful setting of the church. We are grateful to you all for raising 506 towards Trust funds. We wish you a very happy Christmas and peaceful New Year.

I'm sure many of you in the village will have noticed the new white Pavilion that has appeared over the past few months on the Sports field. This as you know is the work of the Parish Council who have pushed ahead with the project this year however this time last year it was decided to form a local fundraising group to help towards the cost of the building. This group has been active in staging events and promoting the cause in and around the village area and with your support has raised 12000 towards the funds needed. We are not quite ready to hang up our boots yet though as the shortfall left by the lottery rejection is to be settled by a loan and any other money we can raise will help towards alleviating this burden.

One of our most successful evenings was the Sports Dinner at the Brickwall hotel and hope you will mark your brand new 2009 diaries with 20th March to join us once again.

May we thank you for your support and wish you all "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!"
