News from Westfield
LIBRARY: Again (Friday) the mobile van is due to come to Westfield at the usual two stops: Geary Place, Moor Lane from 2.25pm until 3.15pm, then Churchfield from 3.30pm until 3.50pm. There is a good selection of books to borrow for free, and audio books or videos to hire.
FAYRE: The Parish Hall is the place to be tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon, from 2pm to 4pm, when Christmas kicks in with a vengeance.
The Friends of Westfield Church are providing you with the opportuniy to get into the spirit of Christmas with their Fayre. Stalls include gifts, cakes, a raffle, a tombola, books and jigsaws, etc.
TREES: The RAC signs are up directing people to Little Down Farm, Westfield, for their Christmas trees.
Grown locally, there is always a good selection of green trees to choose from with six varieties, with or without roots, of different sizes.
All you need for decorating for the Christmas season is to be found here - drop in and find out.
Take the lane past Westfield Surgery but do take care turning in as people are still apt to overtake slow moving traffic travelling north, even though it is indicating.
CHURCH: This Sunday, services at St. John the Baptist, Westfield are Holy Communion (1662) at 8am (not pm as printed last week! I trust no-one took this seriously). Nine Thirty Plus (all-age) at 9.30am and Parish Eucharist at 10.30am.
At last Sunday's Family Service, the large congregation was joined by the Bishop of Lewes.
A family's two youngsters were Christened and all the gift boxes were blessed before their journey on the Love-in-a-box Mustard Seed project.
PLOUGH: Mick and Debs are now settling in at The Plough Inn on The Moor.
They are looking forward to meeting Westfield residents and getting to know their new surroundings.
Do drop in and see them but don't try telephoning until they have managed to sort out their number with BT.
SCHOOL: Next Friday, the Primary School holds its Christmas Fayre from 3.15pm. You are welcome to drop in and join in the fun.
Jumble: The 1st Westfield Scout Group's Jumble Sale last week raised a very welcome 300.
The committee wishes to thank everyone for their support and is pleased to have satisfied many people's search for a bargain. Their next sale is planned for February 9.
CHOIR: I have been asked to mention the following - no doubt with all the other Village Voice correspondents. This may be of interest to Westfield singers or others in the area.
The Rococo Community Choir members enjoy themselves in a very friendly, sociable atmosphere and are looking for others to join them.
They sing unaccompanied various styles of music, including songs from Africa, gospel, standards and Euopean, etc., occasionally in performances.
Why not give it a go? There is no audition or ability to read music needed - you just have to like music and have fun.
The choir meets on Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm for a couple of hours at the United Reform Church, Robertsbridge. Further information from Sheila on 01580 880740.
