Village voice - November 7

News from Westfield

CURRY: Tonight, as it is the first Friday in the month, curry is on the menu again at The Old Courthouse. Andy will have prepared a choice of strengths, with meat or vegetable base and to be accompanied by fluffy rice, mango and poppadum if you wish, just right for a satisfying meal.

Drop in and contribute to the lively atmosphere.

FUNERAL: Tomorrow (Saturday) at 11.30am the funeral for Anne Norris takes place at Westfield Church. The size of the congregation will demonstrate the amount of contact she had with people from all walks of life, near and far.

CHURCH: This Sunday at the parish church of St John the Baptist, Westfield, Holy Communion (1662) is at 8am, Nine Thirty Start with Holy Communion at 9.30am and the Service of Remembrance is at 10.30am followed by the laying of wreaths at the War Memorial.

NEWSLETTER: I would like to say that the Community Newsletter will be out on time but as I write I have my doubts. Details are still being submitted and technology needs to be on my side, which currently is not the case. The imminent arrival of my eldest son, on a rare visit, will not improve the situation as his time is limited and newsletter production is not on his agenda.

COFFEE: On Saturday, November 22, there is a Coffee Morning in the Parish Hall, by the church, organised by the Sedlescombe and Westfield branch of the East Sussex Disability Association. This is always such a friendly occasion and a good opportunity to have a chat over a cuppa, do visit to the hall between 10am and noon where there will be stalls with cakes, books, bric-a-brac and handmade Christmas cards.

HALLOWEEN: Last Friday's Halloween party in the Community Hall was a great success as the photographs show. Thanks to Sarah, Kathryn, Min, Rachel and friends who organised the activities on behalf of the Community Association. Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time and the spirit of the occasion was enjoyed by approximately eighty local children who had dressed in super outfits, with make up too. A superb occasion.
