Burwash Festival: what a fantastic time we all had last week at the Burwash Christmas festival. There was so much to see and do for all the family. Santa was in his grotto at Cheriton, which had been beautifully decorated for him, where he saw dozens of children. There was a great time for kids at the scout hut with a carousel. The Bear was a hive of business with lots of stalls selling an array of items. The flower house showed us how to make the Christmas wreaths. Carol singing and mulled wine at the Rose and Crown. A barbecue at the the butchers, hog roast at the Bear. Lots of tombolas, raffles and so much more. The pentacle drummers were very good too. The Christmas light along the high street were switched on by Lucy Khuler. Thank you to everyone who helped in any way to make this one of the best festivals yet.
Carols: On Sunday St Bartholomew’s church Burwash, will be having their annual service of lessons and carols at 6pm. St Philip’s church, Burwash Common will be having their Carols by candle light service from 6.30pm. This will be followed by an after carol service party in the Pavilion from 7.30 to 10 pm. You are very welcome to go along to either service.
Cards: There are just a few hours left to get your cards into one of the post boxes, for the Brownie Christmas card delivery service. The boxes are in The Burwash Stores and Jarvis Butchers. The cost of posting is 20p per card, and money and cards can both be dropped into the box. We shall be collecting the boxes around 4.30 today and take them for sorting. The Brownies will be out delivering them tomorrow. The children will be on foot so only the the local Burwash area will be on their route. If in doubt about an address please call Mary on 01435 882107.
Lunch: We are delighted to be welcoming many of our regular diners and several new people to our Christmas Day lunch for those who would otherwise be on their own. If you aren’t having visitors or going somewhere and want something different to the everyday norm you would be very welcome to join us. It is £5 per person for a delicious freshly cooked festive meal with cheese, coffee and mints. Wine and soft drinks will be available. This is great festive occasion in a friendly festive atmosphere. To find out more or book places, please call Mary and Barry on 01435 882107.
Bowls: The Burwash short mat bowls club will be having their celebration Christmas lunch on Sunday at the Bear. They will be joined by several ex-members to help them have fun for their 25th birthday. It should be a great event. The club will then take a few weeks break and return on Monday 9th January for their normal club night. If you would like to play this great sport why not come along one Monday. The members will be happy to welcome you and show you how to play.
