CHURCH NEWS: The service for the second Sunday of Advent will be Parish Eucharist at the usual time of 9.30 am.led by Rev. Malcolm Pickering. In the afternoon at 3 pm in St. Thomas Winchelsea, there will be the Lights of Love service for St. Michael’s Hospice. Stars with names of loved ones who have died will be placed on the tree in the church, prayers said, lights lit and a few songs sung. Refreshments will be served afterwards. This service is for everyone, whether they have a named star on the tree or not. It is a simple, quiet, moving service. Do come. On Tuesday 6th we celebrate Saint Nicholas, Bishop of Myra. St. Nicholas is the patron saint of children to whom, in many countries, he has the reputation for bringing presents on the night of 6th December.

CRAFT FAIR: The Charity Christmas Craft Fair will be held in the Memorial Hall on Saturday 3rd December from 10am until 2.30 pm. A Fabulous Fair is planned with lots of stalls as well as a Christmas tombola. The prizes have all been kindly donated by the crafters and helpers. The proceeds of this will go to the Bexhill renal fund. In addition we have Nicole Martin joining us, who will be selling decorations for the Childhood Tumour Trust. We do hope that you will be able to join us. This will be the last Craft Fair until Easter. Thank you to all our regular supporters. There is plenty of free parking. Thank you Sandra.

WEATHER: This morning the sun is absolutely brilliant and the sky is a beautiful blue. One could kid oneself that it is warm out there, but the wind has a nip in it. But if the sun shines, the world seems to be a better place. On 3rd December, sunrise is at 7.41 ( at the beginning of November it was 8.56) and sunset is at 15.53 ( November it was 16.24) We are approaching the Winter solstice, when the sun is furthest away from us and the days are at their shortest. It is quite easy to see why the Ancients held festivals to bring back the sun.

QUEEN’S HEAD: The live music on Sunday at 4 pm will be played by Jamie Smart and Jim Board playing Covers. There will be a Quiz Night on Wednesday at 8.30 pm in aid of Macmillan.

SCHOOL NEWS: Congratulations to Georgina, Mia, Jazmin and Ruby-Jude for their outstanding achievements in their Gymnastics Competition last weekend. The children gave a splendid demonstration to the whole school assembly. In the Spring term, there will be a focus on Music. If you know someone who would like to help with this - visiting musicians or helpers, please let the school know. Thanks go to Dee and Lisa for running a very successful Book fair. The school now has the opportunity to purchase books on commission. There are two mufti days for the Christmas Fayre. coming up. The first is this Friday 2nd, when you are asked to contribute bottles for the tombola, bric-a-brac, jumble or £1 donation. The Fayre is on Friday 9th December. The children are asked to come to school in festive themed mufti and bring festive food for sale at the Fayre. The Head Teacher’s Awards this week go to : Starfish Class, Arthur for being a good role model; Stingray Class, Ollie M. for a positive outlook to school life; Dolphin Class, Mabel for a caring approach to others; Octopus Class, Theo C, for super role model for good manners
