News from Westfield

MURDER: Tomorrow, Saturday, how many murders will there be in the Parish Hall between the start at 7.30pm and the conclusion of the entertainment?

All purely fictional of course with The Body in a Wheelbarrow but don't miss the chance to be Miss Marple, Inspector Wexford, Hercule Poirot, DCI Barnaby of Midsomer Murders, Rosemary and Thyme etc all rolled into one.

Bexhill Amateur Theatrical Society are helping the lst Westfield Scout Group with this event and tickets may still be available at Archers the butchers or phone 01424 754080 or 753684.

Six people are required in each team, whether you come with a ready made team or make up one on the night, tickets are 5 each which includes supper. Tea and coffee will be available but if you wish something stronger bring your own, with a glass.

CHURCH: At the parish church of St John the Baptist, Westfield, on Sunday, Holy Communion (1662) is at 8am, 9.30 start, an all-age service, at 9.30am. then Parish Eucharist at 10.30 a.m. Morning Prayer is said on Fridays and Saturdays each week at 9.30am.

On the first Sunday of the month remember that gifts of non-perishable food are collected at church for use by the diocesan Family Support Work Outreach Team in Hollington.

WCA NEWSLETTER: It is that time again when contributions are urgently required for the next edition of the Community Newsletter.

Please send them to me or, over the next week, leave a copy at Westfield News in Chapel Lane and I will collect from there.

Publication date is due to be Friday February 20, so collators, please be prepared for the day before, and distributors be ready over that weekend.

HAGGIS: Many people enjoyed Burns Night last week in one way or another with a haggis meal.

A simple menu with many variations on presentation so whether, in true style with piper and lots of company or a quiet occasion, Robert Burns' 250th anniversary was noted.

On Saturday evening Mick at The Plough beautifully presented his version whilst Andy at The Old Courthouse had been offering his all week so everyone who wished to enjoy this occasion did not have to venture out of Westfield.
