Spring seems to be here: after rather a dreary winter, and the village is looking very attractive with the sun shining on the daffodils in the verges, despite many having bloomed before Christmas.
Westfield Parish Church: services this Sunday are Holy Communion at 8am and the Walk of Witness for Palm Sunday, leaving Westfield School at 10am and continuing with Holy Communion in the church at 10.30am. The Easter services start with Holy Communion at 7pm on Maundy Thursday, ‘An Hour by the Cross’ at 3pm on Good Friday, and Holy Communion services at 7am (sunrise service) and 10am on Easter Sunday. The children’s popular Good Friday workshop takes place in the Parish Hall from 10am-12noon for all children aged 5-11 years. There will be arts and crafts, egg hunt, refreshments and more.
The Hub meets: at ‘The New Inn’ from 10am-12 noon this morning, but please note that there will be no meeting next week (Good Friday).
There are only two weeks to go: until the Westfield Horticultural Society Spring Show! This is at Westfield Community Hall from 2.30-4.30pm on Saturday, April 2. What are you entering? Pick up a show schedules from Westfield News, or view on the village website http://www.westfieldvillage.co.uk/community/generalinterest/horticultural. There are classes for everyone – flowers, vegetables, cooking, crafts, and children’s classes, and lots of stalls including Friary Gardeners fabulous plant stall.
Westfield Youth Club: is urgently looking for people to replace the two current helpers leaving due to family commitments after six enjoyable years. Helpers need to commit to coming along twice a month from 6-8pm. There is some lifting involved (pool table etc.), but we are told that mostly you require a sense of humour and a love of chocolate! Helpers are subject to a DBS check. If the Youth Club cannot find committed volunteers then sadly it will have to close this summer. Please contact the organisers for more information at firstname.lastname@example.org, or ring Dan 07899 917952 or Min 07952 995745.
The Westfield Village website: www.westfieldvillage.co.uk has all sorts of information about village organisations, events, Westfield Community Association and the Parish Council. This is your website, set up to serve the village community, and your contributions, news and views are needed.
We are still looking: for someone to be our new Village Voice correspondent. Please contact email@example.com for more information. Until a replacement is found please send Village Voice contributions to the same address.
