Services at the Parish Church: this Sunday, July 10 are Holy Communion at 8am and Morning Praise at 10am (with activities for younger members). Everyone is warmly welcomed.

The Westfield Church: new weekly group: for parents and toddlers (and babies) has now started. It will meet every Wednesday (term time) from 2-3pm in the new family corner in the church, so do come and catch up with a chat over coffee and cake, with play, stories, games and songs for the toddlers. Just turn up, or contact Lian on 07712 31594 or Natalie on 07863 819662 for more information.

The Westfield Horticultural Society: floral art classes advertised last week are now full. If you are interested in any future courses please ring 01424 552485 asking to be kept up to date.

The Friends of Westfield Parish Church: hold their annual Strawberry Tea on Sunday, July 10 from 3pm in the Parish Hall (not Church Place Farm as previously advertised), so come and enjoy strawberries and cream, a slice of cake and cup of tea. There will also be stalls and a raffle. Admission is £4 (children £2).

The Jazz Picnic in Westfield Lane: on 10 July has had to be been cancelled due to the poor state of the ground following the recent wet weather.

The Friendship Club: meets in the Parish Hall on Monday, July 11 from 2-3.30pm for bingo, whist or just a chat over tea and biscuits. Several outings are arranged during the year, and new members are always welcome, so contact Jean Hobson on 01424 753095 for more information.

Westfield Women’s Institute: meets in the Parish Hall on Tuesday, July 12 at 2.15 pm. Today’s speaker is June Felstead, talking about ALSAR Search and Rescue Dogs. All women are welcome; just turn up, or ring the W.I. President Val Walkinshaw on 07927 403200 for more information.

The Westfield Parish Lunch Club: meets at 12.45pm in the Parish Hall next Friday, July 15. New members (over 50, or disabled in the Parish) are always welcome to come and enjoy a 2 course home cooked meal for just £3.50, so contact the Co-ordinator Doreen Smith (01424 751417) to book your place.

Fresh from being awarded: the cup for first prize in the Church Choir section at the prestigious Hastings Music Festival, Guestling Church Choir will be taking part in this year’s “Cantabile, Songs for a Summer Evening” Concert on Saturday, July 16. The concert takes place at St. Laurence Church, Guestling at 7pm, hosted by Molly Townson, and also includes Suzan Ozkan (Soprano) and Enid Graham (accompanist). Tickets are £12, including refreshments with strawberries and cream, from the Church, Gill Perry (01424 814578) or Molly Townson (01424 812520). All concert proceeds will go to the St. Laurence Church Restoration Fund. Based on previous years, this is a concert not to be missed!

Fia’s Fun Day takes place: from 1-7pm at Fresh Winds, Pett on Saturday. July 23, to support a local family whose child has a progressive and fatal neurodegenerative disease, but benefitting other Westfield children too. The event promises live music, craft, storytelling, dance classes, football and much more, with camping available separately too. Tickets are £10 adult, £5 for under 17s, from ‘The New Inn’.
