Church News: Christmas Services: The church service at Whatlington for the second Sunday in Advent will be at 09.30am. The following Sunday, December 13th will see the Whatlington Carol Service held at 10.30am, a service of favourite carols and lessons telling the Christmas story, this will be taken by our friend from Bexhill, Revd. Angela Cooke. There will be refreshments following the service.
Looking further ahead, the long standing tradition of the Whatlington Christmas Pageant will be enacted on Sunday 20th December, starting from the church at 3.30pm.
Parking for the Carol service and the Pageant will be at the nearby village hall, just a five minute walk away from the church.
On Christmas Eve we will hold a ‘Midnight’ service at 10pm. We look forward to welcoming people to come and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ in our beautiful 13th century church.
Festive Fundraiser at the Hall: The Village Hall Committee members are all looking forward to welcoming our guests on Friday, December 11th, at 7.30 pm, for another Festive Supper at the Village Hall. As previously advised, all 50 available seats have been sold: but if you would still like to come, do by all means ring Annette on 01424 871629, as there may well be a few last-minute cancellations. There is a delicious menu on offer, all home made, comprising Coq au Vin with hot vegetables and French baguettes, and a choice of two desserts, Chocolate Roulade or Lemon Angel Pie (you can always try both!), finishing with coffee and chocolates. Please don’t forget to let us know if you have any food allergies, or want a vegetarian option. A Quiz is being devised for your entertainment and also a captions competition. There will also be a Raffle with some very tempting prizes - fine wine, Godiva chocolates, a box of special Christmas crackers, a beautiful 2016 diary and a gorgeous soft teddy bear, to name but a few! There will also be a surprise item among these, which might appeal to those who didn’t manage to see Gypsy Petulenka at the Summer Fête! If you have not visited the Hall this year, you will also see many improvements: so come prepared for a most enjoyable evening which will help the Hall’s future refurbishment programme as well!
