Whatlington

GOOD COMPANIONS: I am not sure what it is, but members of The Good Companions, certainly do enjoy the “Bring & Share “ luncheons at Whatlington Village Hall! It maybe that all the food is fresh and home made even down to the chutney! 12 members enjoyed a three course meal accompanied by a glass of red or white wine or fruit juice. The choice of starters were prawn cocktail or honeydew melon ;followed by home cooked ham and boiled eggs with hot new potatoes and salad,; followed by trifle, home made cherry pie and treacle tart; all served with cream or custard. Coffee/tea followed, accompanied by after eight mints if you had space to eat them! Thank you to all those who provided food for this delicious lunch and all those who helped in anyway.

Our next meeting on Wednesday June 29th will be a luncheon at The Royal Oak, Whatlington.

PARISH CHURCH NEWS: Whatlington Church celebrates the Queen’s 90th Birthday.

On Sunday 12th June we have a special Family service for the official birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to mark her 90th birthday. The service will be at 10.30am, taken by our own Vicar Revd. Kevin Mepham it will be followed by tea/coffee and cakes.

The service will celebrate the Queen’s life of service to the nation and the Commonwealth, with well known hymns and we will of course sing the National Anthem as well. There will be some colouring activities for the children and we extend a warm welcome to come and join us to celebrate the birthday of a lady who has been a constant presence in the life of our nation for all, or most of the lives of almost all of us.

The car park at Whatlington village hall will be open, just a few minutes walk from the church.
