HELLO: Hopefully you have all had the chance to enjoy the sun over the last few days. Don’t forget if you have any village news let me know so I can include it in this column.
PARISH CHURCH NEWS: The weekend of 23/24th July is the Patronal Weekend at Whatlington church, when we celebrate or patron saints day, St. Mary Magdalene. Mary is a key player in the life of Jesus, she followed Jesus, was present at the Crucifixion and was perhaps the first person to see the Risen Christ, so we count ourselves fortunate to have her as our Patron Saint.
On Saturday 23rd July: there will be a ‘Coffee & Cake’ morning in the church, with parking available either at the Village Hall car park or in the small car park at the church. On Sunday we are holding a Patronal Evensong in the church at 6pm, followed by refreshments.
We extend a warm welcome to all to come and join us, whether it’s just for coffee and cake on Saturday morning, or for the service on Sunday, or perhaps for both. The church will be decorated for the weekend and the Saturday provides an opportunity to see inside our beautifully restored medieval church.
