At the recent Broadstock Festival in Crowhurst, up and coming band The Scarlet Duchess travelled all the way from southern Germany to play at the event.

Lead Singer Ben Pohl is due to move to England soon in respect of his other line of work / day job. Ben is a medieval historian, specialising in the Norman period and is due to take up a senior research post at Cambridge University.

Ben was particularly interested to meet with Martin White, owner of the once fortified Medieval Manor in Crowhurst. Martin showed Ben around the ruins and the two discussed some emerging theories about Crowhurst Manor and other forts in the area, and possible connections with the Battle of 1066. Back on stage, Ben and The Scarlet Duchess played a great set and along with all the other acts at the Festival showed Broadstock is becoming a more modern event to look out for in Crowhurst.
