A car collided with a tree this morning in Rye (Tuesday, August 18).

The incident happened in Military Road at around 9.30am, close to Rye Tennis Club, where a blue Peugeot 306 car left the road.

A man and a woman were able to get out of the heavily damaged vehicle but a third woman was released by firefighters, a Sussex Police spokesman said.

She was taken by ambulance to the Conquest Hospital in St Leonards and treated for minor injuries.

The road was closed between the A268 Rye and its junction with Houghton Green Lane for almost three hours while the incident was dealt with.

No other vehicle is believed to have been involved.
