THE youngest member of Battle Town Council has left in order to pursue his studies.

Rob McDonald, who lives in Lower Lake, was elected to the council in May 2011 and represented Marley Ward.

Rob, 24, announced at Tuesday’s Battle Town Council meeting that he was stepping down in order to study MSc Town Planning at Brighton University.

But he suggested he would consider returning to the council in the future.

Rob said: “I would like to come back if I’m welcome back.

“I would like to thank you for your wisdom and advice.”

He jokingly added: “I have enjoyed every moment - I have chosen this over the pub.”

Cllr Sylvie Pry, vice chairman of Battle Town Council, said: “Thank you for what you have done and good luck with your studies.”

Rob was a member of the council’s communication committee and represented the council on Battle Partnership and the Road Safety Group.
