RECENTLY launched Rye Table Tennis Project held its first Table Tennis is Fun Day during half term.
The project, which is based at Rye College, is supported by Sports England Lottery Funding.
The event was well attended, attracting young people from throughout the area.
The day consisted of coaching and competition provided in a fun way. Players were also given the chance to try their skills against a table tennis robot which proved very popular.
English Table Tennis Association coach Kevin Haffenden was delighted with the response commenting that he is discovering some hidden talent in the area.
The project, which was launched in November, will be holding a number of holiday events this year including a special competition to mark the 2012 Olympic Games.
Coaching is also underway at Rye College on Tuesdays with two sessions aimed at young people in Rye and the surrounding area.
Pupils from Rye Primary and Rye College and welcome to come along on Tuesdays from 3.20pm to 4.30pm whilst there is a Junior Community Club for young people attending other local schools or living in the Rye College catchment area.
