In response to Paul Minter’s letter published February 24 regarding how much money the churches give to charity.
Once again I am in complete agreement with Paul, this was an excellent question which needs to be asked.
The church (and by this I mean all religions not just the Christian ones) automatically gets charity status and are tax exempt; it’s about time that all religions have to account for themselves by publishing their accounts just as any other large business and stops getting the free ride which it has become accustomed to.
It’ll be interesting to see what kind of answer, if any we get from these organisations.
