How much have churches given?

Ten years ago I was made aware that more than one million pounds a year was going through churches just in our small town of Bexhill.

Later I read church history where it says 50 per cent of all money collected by the church should go to charity, those in the greatest need in society.

That would be half of 10 million pounds over 10 years, so five million pounds.

But let’s be extra fair and suggest just 10 per cent could go to charity.

May I ask church leaders – have the Bexhill churches given one million pounds to charity in the last 10 years? If not, could they please estimate, just roughly, how much they have given and what percentage of their income it is?
