Parking restriction consultation

Many of your readers will have encountered traffic congestion on the A259 at South Undercliff, particularly during the main visitor season on a Sunday when no parking restrictions apply.

Investigations have revealed that the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) preventing parking between 8am and 6pm Monday-Saturday also includes Sunday but, for some unknown reason, the signage in place does not reflect this.

For the benefit of parishioners, visitors and those who work in the town, Rye Town Council considers that the TRO should be fully enforced. The Highways Agency is minded to correct the parking restriction signage, subject to the outcome of a local consultation.

Therefore, please let the Town Council know whether you are for or against the South Undercliff parking restriction being fully enforced, to include Sundays, by emailing: townhall@ryetowncouncil.gov.uk or by writing to: Town Hall, Rye TN31 7LA. The deadline for your comments is Monday, 9 July, 9am.
