Residents' passes at Battle Abbey are NOT being scrapped, despite some passes not being renewed.
Rumours had been flying round the town that English Heritage was going to scrap the scheme after some residents' passes were not renewed by the Abbey.

But a spokesperson says there had been a mix-up with some members of staff at the site and insists the scheme is set to continue.

An English Heritage spokeswoman said: "Residents' passes at Battle Abbey are still available to purchase and are being renewed.

"We are constantly reviewing the pattern of visitors to our sites and the way our properties are run to ensure the best visitor experience.

"Unfortunately, during the latest review, some staff thought residents' passes were not being renewed.

"We apologise to anyone who hasn't had their pass renewed as yet."
