A charity desperately needs volunteers in Rye to take part in a six-month project.
The Association of Carers is seeking people who are able to offer around four hours of their time each week.

Jo Oliver, fund-raising manager, said: "Without any volunteers the project cannot go ahead and we know there are carers who vitally need r
espite in Rye and rural Rother.

"We have been running the same service in Hastings for 21 years and Battle and Bexhill for 10 years. We now feel that Rye and rural Rother carers deserve the same award winning service.

"Our volunteers sit with the carer's dependant for around three hours on the same day each week.

"This breaks the isolation for both the carer and the dependant and means the carer can take up a new social activity or just enjoy some free time to themselves, safe in the knowledge that the one they care for is safe and with someone friendly.

"We also have social opportunities for our volunteers throughout the year as a thank you for their dedication to the service."

If you are a caring person who is able to offer some time each week to provided a much needed break for a carer please call Yvonne or Jo at the Association of Carers on 01424 722309 or email info@associationofcarers.org.uk.
