A date has now been set for planning inspectors to hear the appeal on the Udimore Road housing development.
Developers Aruncorp Ltd were refused outline planning permission for 135 homes on land north of Udimore Road by planners at Rother District Council last year.
They appealed against the decision and the hearing will take place at Rye Community Cen
tre on Tuesday April 29 at 10am.
If Aruncorp wins its appeal it will be in a better position to force the release of the land from the reserve housing list.
On March 3, Rother's Cabinet agreed that any decision on whether to release the land for housing development should be postponed for six months.
Rye residents opposed to building on the green-field site at Udimore Road, are hoping the six months delay will allow time for new housing land to become available north of Bexhill or for one of the local primary school sites to be released for development when they become empty in September.
Rye residents had bombarded Rother Cabinet members with letters protesting against any release of the land for housing, while Rye Town Council had set out a strong list of objections.
Members of the public will be able to attend the planning appeal hearing on April 29 and make any relevant comments, at the discretion of the inspector.
Documents and files relating to the planning application are available for the public to view at Bexhill Town Hall.
Phone the Town Hall first on 01424 787878 to arrange to view them.
