One of the UK's biggest girl groups have announced a one-off summer concert at Battle Abbey.
Girls Aloud, famous for smash hits including Sexy! No No No and Call The Shots, will be playing the Abbey on Bank Holiday Saturday, August 23.

The group, which was formed through reality television show Popstars: The Rivals, are currently enjoying massive success with a sold out arena tour coming up in May, following the release of their smash hit album Tangled Up.

Producer Andrew Wyke said: "It's fantastic that Girls Aloud will be performing at Battle Abbey.

"This is the first time a pop act of this stature has ever appeared in this area so we're really excited.

"It gives fans who can't get to the arena shows in London the perfect opportunity to see Girls Aloud live in concert this summer."

Demand for tickets is expected to be high when they officially go on sale at 9am on Monday.

For a strictly limited period tickets will be available at £26 (plus booking fee) and will grant holders access to what is being dubbed 'the hottest party of the summer', with support band and top DJ adding to the entertainment.

Organisers say Battle Abbey is the perfect location to host the spectacular summer pop party, which has played host to thousands of concert-goers over the August Bank Holiday weekend in recent years.

Mr Wyke added: "The combination of Girls Aloud and this stunning venue means this will be a great way for families to enjoy a really special event this summer."

The concert will be the first of two that weekend, with the Proms Spectacular on Sunday August 24, this year marking the return of conductor Jae Alexander, tenor Wynne Evans and the English National Orchestra.

Girls Aloud have notched up a record-breaking 17 consecutive top 10 singles, including three number ones, four platinum albums, including a number one, and record sales in excess of 4.2 million in the UK alone.

They are also Smash Hits poll winners, have won a TMF Award and have been nominated for two BRIT Awards.

Tickets go on sale from 9am on Monday, to book, visit www.maconcerts.co.uk or telephone 0871 271 6149.
