The chief executive of Age Concern East Sussex, Steve Hare, officially opened the new charity shop in Battle on Wednesday.
Guests including Battle mayor Ron Harris, Hastings mayor Maureen Charlesworth, Caroline Mayhew, the high sheriff of East Sussex, East Sussex County Council vice chair John Livings and Rother District Council deputy chair Joanne Gadd were all present for the opening of the newly refurbished shop.

Mr Hare said he was delighted to be able to open the charity's third shop in Battle.

The new shop will serve to strengthen the presence of Age Concern East Sussex in the east of the county and support the work of Age Concern across East Sussex.

Age Concern East Sussex already provides several valuable services for older people in the Rother area, with an office located within the
Battle Town Council offices at the Almonry.

Ralph Chapman, chairman of trustees, thanked all the guests for attending and for their continuing interest in the work of the charity.
