Rye Sailing Club welcomes French yachtsmen

Rye Harbour Sailing Club exteded some entente cordial to a group of sailors from France at the weekend.
The group of 22, including children, are members of the Cercle de la voile de Dieppe and sailed over to Rye on Saturday.

A spokesperson from Rye Harbour Sailing Club said: "The club has enjoyed a good relationship with fellow yachtsmen from Dieppe over many years and it was a pleasure to see so many visit us and enjoy a convivial evening, in beautiful weather."

A barbecue was held, with lamb provided by local farmer, Howard Bates, Rear-commodore of Rye.

There was live music and a plentiful supply of Pimms, wine and beer.
Rye's Club President, Carey Marsh, welcomed the guests, mainly in English, but with the aid of an excellent interpreter.

Races to and from Dieppe are planned, by Rye Harbour Sailing Club during the forthcoming Bank Holiday.
