Money still available from the Rye Town Manager's salary could end up being spent in Bexhill.
Rother Council had said the money could be used to help market Rye.
But there was uncertainty this week as to how the money would be used and who the funds would be allocated to.

The money could be diverted to Bexhill to support provision of a to
urist information centre there or just put back into Rother's general funds.

It has already been established that the role of Town Manager, as it used to be, will no longer exist.
The post was occupied by Yolanda Laybourne but she left more than a year ago after an undisclosed dispute and has never been replaced.
Options on how to use the money currently under discussion are:

? Allocating it to the Rye Marketing Campaign, delivered by Rye Partnership, through contracts with Rye Town Services and 1066 Country.
? Ring-fencing the money to support Rye marketing activities, but on condition of matched funding.
? Using it to employ someone whose job will be to market Rye.
? Paying consultants to come up with ideas to market Rye.
? Using it to employ someone to market the whole of Rother.
? Using it for a Bexhill TIC.
? Placing it in Rother's mainstream regeneration budget.
? Returning it to the budget as a saving to the council.

Rother services director Anthony Leonard said: "The proposals by Rye Partnership for the local marketing campaign were dependent, to a large extent, on the availability of extra funding being released to support additional PR activity through Rye Town Services.

"If this is not available it is unlikely Rye Town Services will be in a position to deliver this element of the marketing campaign.
"All the options should be regarded as being in principal only at this stage.

"Whichever option is favoured by members, more detailed consideration on th working arrangements will be needed."
Rother Council's Cabinet is due to discuss the issue when it meets in Bexhill on Monday evening."
